Real At-Home Wedding Save-The-Date

A custom drawing of the home is perfect for this Virginia backyard wedding save the date. I might be a bit biased, since this real save-the-date is from one of my clients, but I think it is perfect. This is a scan of an original painting of the country home that has been in the groom’s family for decades, and the couple will wed there in September.

I know that it is popular to include a photo of the couple on modern save-the-dates, and there was a photo of my clients on the back of this card. But, the save-the-date truly is the guests’ first impression of your wedding, so I prefer a save-the-date coordinate with the rest of the stationery. This save the date did not coordinate with the formal invitation, but it does a great job of setting the stage for the upcoming autumn wedding.

There are many places you can include an illustration of the home where your backyard wedding will be. it can be the motif on your wedding invitation suite. It can be put on the cocktail napkins used on the wedding day. it can also be incorporated to your wedding website. And it doesn’t have to be a full color illustration. Sometimes a line drawing is just as striking.
