I am excited to share this at-home Maryland wedding with you. Today’s post willbe a spotlight on the wedding ceremony held at home. The home belongs to very close friends of the family, and we had a great flow for the wedding day. The driveway had a circle in front of the garage so guests could pull in and met the valet team there. They walked to the left side of the house, and around to the backyard ceremony. From there, guests walked up to the pool for cocktails. Finally, guests walked around the other side of the house to the reception tent in the front yard. I recommend this kind of flow for a home wedding. I prefer when the guests just keep walking in a line, and aren’t backtracking through spaces they have already seen.

Home wedding getting ready photos are the best. They are so precious and one-of-a-kind. There are countless nice hotel suites you can use, but nothing beats getting ready in a private home for your wedding ceremony.

Would you believe that above bouquet is made of clay flowers?! The bride found them on Etsy and they were stunning in person. And a total keepsake, in addition to being very eco-friendly!

Maryland Wedding Ceremony at Home

I am obsessed with this home wedding ceremony backdrop. The wrought iron gate was sourced and installed by the family, and decorated by the florist. The homeowner’s gave me the wrought iron gate after the wedding, and it now lives with a (different) floral designer in the country, where she has space for it. A home wedding ceremony is a great opportunity to use unique design pieces such as this gate, that might not be logistically feasible to install in other wedding venues.

And now for the best part of a wedding ceremony at home, a confetti exit. I seriously love a confetti exit. You can’t do it in a lot of places, since it makes such a mess. So when I am in a situation that allows it, I try to see whether doing one makes sense given the logistics and whether the couple is interested! And a home wedding ceremony is the perfect set up for a confetti exit.
