Today we are taking a look at a gorgeous at-home wedding in Dickerson, Maryland, planned by Katie Martin of Elegance & Simplicity. Katie tells us more about the event…
Having an at-home wedding at a farm with a large barn is this wedding planner’s dream, with its clean canvas and unlimited possibilities. A barn with no bathrooms and limited water access also led to lots of different needs for this wedding. Even though the ceremony and reception were on the same property, there was a relatively long distance between the ceremony and reception area so we rented golf carts for the elderly and handicapped. We also brought in a luxury bathroom trailer and attached a beautiful frame tent to their large shed to allow for full seating and a large dance floor. They had a gorgeous eco-chic event with tons of music, decor and dancing. The night was so amazing as “Contra Dancing” played a major role in the day and the guests danced the entire night away. At the end of the night we set up snacks and a self service bar so they could continue to dance after all the vendors went home. That is one of the biggest advantages of having a wedding at home…dancing the night away! Even with noise ordinances, neighbors can be swayed and non-amplified music can make the difference!
