Yesterday I shared the wedding ceremony from this intimate Virginia home wedding. Today I am back with the highlights from their at-home wedding reception.
Cocktail Hour at Home
We had the cocktail reception in the backyard of the house. This provided shade on a warm summer day, and allowed the catering staff to move the ceremony chairs over to the dinner reception tent without the guests seeing that process. Jackass Flats, the band, is normally a six-piece, but we pulled 3 members out for an acoustic set here.
Tented Dinner Reception at Home
For this intimate, tented Virginia home wedding, we really took advantage of what the property already had. This mid-century home had a great carport plus a large enough paved space to install at 20×50 tent. We were able to have a temporary gutter (installed by Sugarplum Tents) between the tent and the home. This was crucial because during set up we had a brutal downpour for about 15 minutes, and without that gutter, the tent and carport would have been absolutely flooded.
To dress up and soften the carport, we brought in Drape Kings, and Sugarplum installed some uplighting. In the carport we set up a bar, the cake and some casual tables for guests to gather if they didn’t want to be right by the band.
The words that the brides wanted to describe their home wedding decor was Midsummer’s Night Dream. To achieve this, Growing Wild brought in moss runners for the farm tables, and lanterns to accompany the floral centerpieces.
The tent for this Virginia at-home wedding was 20×50. We had just enough space for our 48 weddings guests plus the dance floor and band area. If needed, we could have tucked up to 4 more guests at the very ends of each row of tables.
